Game 3 of the series between the Pens and the Sens was intense. It’s got to be frustrating having the emotional advantage of the crowd, getting Danny Alfredsson back, and scoring the first goal. Yet, playing with the desperation that the Senators played with proved that the Penguins in this series can handle anything thrown at them. I’m a huge supporter of Conklin and having him start a game or two because he helped us get to where we were with Fluery out. But, Fluery has been absolutely playing out of his freaking mind as of late.

If and when the Penguins make it to the next round, I’m pretty concerned as to who we are playing against. It could be the New Jersey Devils or the New York Rangers depending on if Montreal wins their series. Either the Devils or the Rangers are both opponents I’m pretty afraid to see in any play-off series given the fact that the Pens always have an incredibly tough time with them.

On the other hand, no Gary Roberts in game 3. It’s a bit selfish of myself, but what he has shown the Pens at age 42 is awesome. That guy is as tough as nails, and am so glad to get him back at a vital time in the year!

has got to be one of the best bands I have recently discovered in a very long time.  They have captivated me from the moment I popped in the cd.  Their new album called “Fortress” is a screaming/break down laden/ heavy bass line tribute to what rock really should be.

The intricacies of the breakdowns/riffs, are mind blowing compared to the run of the mill bands that seem to be popping out albums faster than ever for their record companies to conform to the commercialism of this world today.

I have been frustrated lately with this kind of music, and I must admit, took a chance upon picking up their new cd in fear of it being more of the same.  I’ve heard their old stuff on Myspace (http://www.myspace.com/protestthehero) and was immediately drug in to the music upon it hitting my ears.  I was kind of worried that it was going to be a few songs heavy and the rest of it laced with boring unoriginal tracks, but upon the first go around was dead wrong.  From the way everything was produced to signing and playing their respective instruments, every single member of the band is as clean playing as the next.

I just couldn’t believe it, I have simply found a band so great,  among the mundane and simple.  Keep on rocking Protest the Hero.  Come to Pittsburgh, and I’ll gladly pay anything to come see you!

Pittsburgh Pirates fan.  Honestly, I love them to death, I bleed black and gold for all sports.  But, with baseball being my first true sports love, it’s hard to swallow that we are one of the worst teams around.

Yesterday was the home opener for the Buc’s and it was as thrilling as it could have been while losing.  Going down by 7 runs and coming back really does show that the team has some spirit and confidence with their bats.  Seriously though, I blame management for the loss yesterday.  Freaking Bixler should have ran home when Bautista bunted regardless of what it was.  It was far enough away from home and he could have gotten a huge jump on the pitch.  Being as it was the bottom of the 9th it would have ended the game and  sent everyone home with a smile on their face(except the Cubbies).

I blame management because, when the play went down everyone looked around confused and dumbfounded, so that means to me, that no-one was thinking suicide squeeze aside from Bautista, and his hit alone would have won the game for us.  I would have much rather of seen the inning end that way rather than the next guy striking out and losing later in the 12th inning.  Until plays like that smooth out and everyone is on the right page, maybe just maybe, the Pirates can come close to not losing 100 games.

I still think we need to spend more money and stop trying to farm within the organization.  I mean come on, Van Benshochten was a 30 HR outfielder before the Pirates “Brains” decided ultimately he would be a great pitcher.  Now look at him, he can barely pitch and will undoubtedly stay in the minors for the rest of his life.

It’s just disheartening, I would give anything to see the day in the life of the owner’s, honestly, the only reason they are keeping the team is to collect money at the end of each Pirate game regardless win or lose.  I will not doubt one thing though.  The Pirates are the best AAA Minor League baseball team in the MLB, and it’s not because of the players, it’s because of the money.

I need something cool to do, and I need to figure it out soon. I want to visit some place warm, or somewhere exotic. That would be pretty ideal. I want to be able to walk outside and see nothing but beaches and water, and I don’t want to have to wait till July to do it! Oh how I wish I were lucky enough to be born in the tropics somewhere.

I’m just tired of this on again off again spring weather. About the only thing that rules is that the Penguins dominate….I wish the Pirates were the same. But, with a total contract worth of 51 Million, I doubt well be seeing anything awesome from them in a long long time. Well, until the Nuttel’s sell the team. Other than that folks, I have nothing else I can think off. Have a good one!
